Required Qualification
To take the Optometry course or optometrist degree, you need to pass 12th with 50% marks. Also, XII should have Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics or Biology and English subjects.
To get admission in optometry one has to give a centralized Combined Entrance Examination Eye Set. Optometry is a 4-year course, which is valid across India. In the first 3 years, theoretical education is imparted and in the final year, an internship is conducted which is under clinical and trade experience.

During the Course
In this, knowledge of optical devices, physical optics, physiology, general anatomy, eye asymmetry, pathological conditions, methods of measuring and correcting vision defects are taught.
Opportunities
A career in optometry: An optometrist can get jobs in hospitals and clinics where he has to assist an ophthalmologist. If you want, you can open your own optics shop and do your work.
What will be the Payscale?
A professional optometrist can easily earn around 20 to 30000 rupees monthly salary in the beginning. If you have taken an Optometry course from a good institute and your abilities are good, then your salary may be higher.
