Purpose of Planning Manager / Planning Engineer

  • Planning Manager / Planning Engineer is responsible for all scheduling and planning activities as per contract requirements or Client Requirements.
  • Translate the scope of work of the project into activities and prepare and update project progress reports.

Roles and Responsibilities of Planning Manager / Planning Engineer

Prepare and update the Project’s Programs like Baseline Schedules, comparison between actual and planned activities.

Provide advice and assistance to the Manager(s) and other personnel as required to meet program requirements.

Identify contract variations related to program changes and instigate documentation to the Consultant.

Ensure that the project has a program which satisfies the Consultant requirements, and which accurately reflects the current status and future intent for all project activities to ensure planned and orderly completion.

Planning Manager / Planning Engineer has to update the program at regular intervals. But more frequently if necessary to reflect additions and changes to the progress of the work.

Provide Advice and Coordination

Provide advice to Procurement Manager (s) to coordinate with suppliers and subcontractors to ensure that delivery deadlines are met.

Develop, in coordination with the Project Construction Manager, the time schedule for the project civil works, based on the project time duration.

Prepare a work program, critical paths, and target milestones based on the time schedule.

Monitor milestones with work production on-site, and advise the Project Director/Project Manager.

Coordinate and provide solutions to the Project Director/Manager regarding planning and control schedule.

Monitor Work Progress with Time Schedule Program

Present catch-up plan and activities to recuperate lost progress due to delays.

Receive copies of daily reports and monitor work progress with time schedule program and update weekly and monthly time schedule progress report.

Participate in internal project meetings with Project Managers, staff, and subcontractors raising weaknesses and delays in the time schedule.

Attend Project Management Review Meeting regularly. (Roles and Responsibilities of Planning Manager / Planning Engineer)

Collect all Subcontractors’ Baseline Schedules, Manpower & Equipment plans, and incorporate them into the Contractor planning Schedule for monitoring.

Provide corrective action to subcontractors to attain planned results based on a baseline schedule.

Internal / External Communications

Internally with the Project team in line with the requirements of the Contractor Management System.

Externally with Client/Subcontractor/Supplier representatives.

 Special Requirements / Features

  • Proficiency with planning and scheduling software like MS Project / Primavera software.
  • Knowledge of PMP certification process.
  • Technical awareness of civil, electro-mechanical, and architectural works.
